2011 Brooks Bridal Show

I had a great opportunity to attend the Brooks Bridal show again this year. It was put together wonderfully with one of the hosts being my Aunt Barb who runs the Douglas Country Inn located in Brooks.  They had displays set up with everything from flowers and cakes, to photography, makeup and even hair extensions. There was a fashion show done by McBride & Groom in Lethbridge, displaying some of their fabulous designs. Bride in Bloom, located in Brooks, also did a magnificent job on the flowers.  Here are some of the captures from the day.  And also a great job done by our models in the show.

If you would like to check out more captures from the day, click on the link below.

Spock is welcomed home to Vulcan

Well this weekend I had the oppoturnity to head out to visit my Aunt in Vulcan, Alberta....a.k.a Star Trek capital of Canada.  Leonard Nimoy arrived (for the first time) to visit this small town on Friday, April 23rd, and there was a great turnout!  There was a bronze statue made in his honour, he recieved the Key to the town, and he had his hand hand imprinted in cement.  There was even an enterprise star ship donated by extendicare.  People from all over had come out for the event...inlcuding B.C, Northern Alberta, and the States.
At the Vulcan V&S store, we did portraits for star trek fans with Spock cardboard cutouts (original Spock or the New Spock) so of course I couldn't resist taking a picture or two with these legendary characters.
It was fun, and interesting to see people walking around town with pointed ears and star trek uniforms. Here's a few of the shots I was able to get.

The Brooks Bridal Show at the Douglas Country Inn

On the weekend, Jeff's aunt Barb was hosting a bridal show in Brooks. She has a place called the "Douglas Country Inn" where she also does catering and hosts banquets. She does amazing work, and her cakes are fantastic! McBride and Groom from Lethbridge provided the dresses for the fashion show....and let me tell you, they have some beautiful dresses!! And my girls were lucky enough to wear some of the flower girl dresses (even though they were a bit shy to begin with). My sister-in-law and some of her friends were also some of the models, and they did a fantastic job. Nice work everyone!! If you are getting married anytime soon, I suggest checking out some of these dresses from McBride and Groom or the cakes done by Barb. And all you graduates this year...here are some great ideas for grad dresses, and even some fashions for the men.

Sariah was a little shy to go on stage in front of everyone, but went up anyway and even threw in a few twirls for the crowd. Everyone laughed at how cute she was, but poor Sariah thought they were laughing at her, and almost burst into tears. She did a great job though, and loved wearing all the fancy dresses.

University of Lethbridge Cheerleaders!

It was the last home game for the University Of Lethbridge Pronghorns last night, as well as "breast cancer awareness night". A close friend from high school is the new head coach for the cheerleaders, and asked if I would take some photos for their website! So here's some of the results. It was a full house and the girls did amazing. Great job Anna, and to all those that helped make the night a success!

Bridal Extravaganza

Yesterday was the Bridal Extravanganza at the Lethbridge Yates Centre, and StandOut Photography's first tradeshow! There were some great displays, and I had to chance to meet a lot of other different business owners. It was a lot of fun and seemed to go very well, plus I learned some things that I could do differently next time. We gave out 2 free "bridal glamour sessions" as door prizes, one with each fasion show. Congratulations to those that won and I look forward to hearing from you soon :) Plus there was a draw set up at our table for a free 1/2 hour engagement session with a $50 print credit. We had about 60 entries over the course of 4 hours. The winner for that draw is...
Kristen Nash
Congratulations Kristen!

And a huge thanks to Shannon Bos who came and helped out with the table. It was a lot of fun, and I'm excited to be working together this year with her. Thanks again Shannon!

Olympic Torch Relay

First, just letting you know that I will be posting images in a bigger size now. It's just so much better for viewing, as I'm sure you'll agree. There will also be some other changes taking place in the next little while, as I try out some new layouts, etc. All the posts will still be here, but the design itself may change. It should look pretty good when I'm all finished. And I appreciate any feedback on the changes you see on either the website or the blog. Leave your comments and let me know what you think?

Well, I'm a bit late posting this, but I had the opportunity to photograph my Uncle Rob who ran in the Olympic 2010 Torch Relay. He's from Edmonton, but won a contest put on by Coke and was placed in Grassylake, Alberta. He was absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Olympics, and it was exciting to see someone we knew be a part of that. The girls cheered him on from the sidelines, and I tried to capture the exact moment when the flame was passed. It went a lot quicker than I thought, but I was able to get the shot. What a great experience. Congratulations Rob!
